FOUNDERS  STATEMENT

The design consists of concentric/curved wall panels separated from each other to induce interest. Individual veteran honorees – those for whom granite tablets have been donated – have their tablet imbedded on a curved wall panel.

The outward facing surface of the wall panels contain a timeline denoting significant historical events from 1776 to the present. Sixty-three bronze plaques augment the timeline references. At the center of the memorial is a beautiful re-circulating fountain. Circling the complex are 18 historical flags, and soaring over all is “Old Glory”. Landscaping, both inside and surrounding, the wall of honor was created to provide serenity and peacefulness as well as natural beauty.

School, club and church organizations, as well as the general public, are invited to visit, be informed or just contemplate. The councils cadre of volunteers particularly desire to speak to area youth groups and to share with them an interest in American history. Tour groups are welcome and guides can be arranged for.

The Council is a partner in the Veterans History Project sponsored by the Folklife Center in the Library of Congress and the Veterans History Project.
